The Speakeasy Theatre project was a great collaborative effort with the non-profit Boxcar Theatre, Building Owners Cypress Properties, Hilbers Construction and consultants – Forell|Elsesser Structural Engineers, MHC Engineers, and Acoustic Arts and Engineering.

The former single screen (478-seat) movie theater located in a basement at the juncture of San Francisco’s Chinatown and North Beach neighborhoods, was divided into various rooms, including the Piano Bar, Casino, and Cabaret, in order to accommodate the new program developed by Nick Olivero, Boxcar’s Creative Director. Extensive 1920’s period detail by the theatre scenery crew immerses one in an authentic speakeasy experience, complete with exquisite cocktails, a live band accompanied by chorus girls, and a talented cast of actors.

Below are some images of the ribbon cutting ceremony that took place on November 18th. THA team in attendance are Principal-in-Charge David Hecht, Project Manager Carla Dal Mas, and Junior Designer Stephanie Maloney.
